After 4 years of extensive research, testing, observing, video shooting and optimizing, I would like to share with you my current ultimate list of recommended equipment, both for beginners and experienced astronomers with a big focus on value vs price, nicely organized with several alternatives and links to the videos talking about the equipment. Feel free to share it further.

At the same time I would like to welcome our new main sponsor for this channel, which is me 😊. Each time you click on one of these links and purchase a product i get a small commission. So I will be mentioning the list in some of my new videos.
I will be maintaining this evolving list as I try and review more products. I always choose only products which I would personally use.

Thank you for watching! All 4008 of you!
About 4 years ago I finally realized a lifelong dream of mine, my first ever telescope. A Sky-Watcher 200p and a bunch of cheap equipment for it.
I wanted to share my passion with the world, put out a few videos out there recorded on my company provided iPhone 8 and just left them there. This was never the plan but as you kept watching and coming back, I kept making more and will continue to do so.
460K views, 28 500 watch hours.

If you are confused by this picture, don't worry, so am I.
Working on the collimation video and the biggest issue with guides like these that are literally everywhere is that they try to compress an optical chain with over 11 degrees of freedom into a single 2D picture. I know many people, myself included, who have wasted hours trying to get all the circles to align to no avail.
But I think I finally have a nice, beginner step by step process worked out that doesn't require you to put 20 circles and spiders neatly into one another.

SVBony surprised me again with this nice package they have been sending out to all creators. Maybe the other creators don't like talking about it and to be fair SVBony did not request this to be shared anywhere, but me on the other hand, I like to be as transparent as possible as my priority is always the integrity and credibility of my videos.
I do want to share a few observations about SVBony:
- I was recommending them as a brand and their products long before I had a channel and later long before they knew about me.
- I do like their trust in their products as they keep sending multiple creators, me included, samples with the freedom to review them as they see fit.
- The value vs price is of course their top selling point but of what I have seen, the customer post-sale service is also quite high.
- And of course, besides Astronomy, I always like it when a brand actively works with creators on YouTube and engages in communication through them with the community. Nobody else besides SVBony and MSM has contacted me at all and I don't really go out and actively seek sponsorships (to be clear, i wouldn't consider sending out samples as a sponsorship), because that's not really how I want to operate this channel.
Btw, extra point for originality. The small metal keychain thingy is a 50 year calendar :)

Some have asked why did I upgrade to a 12" GSO instead of a Sky-Watcher. Several reasons:

Thank you so much. I've just bought a Starsense Explorter 8" Dob that has the phone app to help you allign to objects. I've assembled the scope but not been able to use it yet due to rain all this week. Can't wait to start observing.

Nice. I have an expensive imaging refractor rig, but I have been thinking I need a DOB. Perfect timing.
