IGE - Individual Group Effort - Ken Lawson
Description
Welcome to my channel. It began as a way to share my music but has evolved into a hybrid of that and you sharing your music with me through reactions. An unexpected but fulfilling venture...most of the time. Thank you for taking time out of your day to spend with me.
IGE (Individual Group Effort) is a family/friends band that gets together every few years to do 1 around the holidays. We all live in different states and learn 30-40 songs individually and then practice them when we get together for the holidays for 1 or 2 days. We then perform them as an all night concert. Some songs are total train wrecks and get cut but most we can at least get through and are sometimes great. The band line-up changes but usually consists of Jay & Ken Lawson (brothers), & Ron Fasbender (Honorary brother. Solid!) We have friends that sit in as well as other family members (Jay's wife and kids and whoever Ken is married to at that particular time). Most of us are not in bands and do this just for fun.

The line, "If we had a daughter, I'd watch and could not save her" makes me cry whenever I hear it because when my daughter was born, I ran away from her abusive father. Took nothing, but her. Never looked back.

This is the anthem for women. This song is an insight to what some of us go through and deal with on a daily basis.

the fruit she’s eating when singing about baby machine is a pomegranate which forever has been linked with fertility and women have ate it in the past to get pregnant in the past when often it wasn’t their fault for fertility issues but would often get the blame anyway x

“It’s not an act of love if you make her” hits so hard

Her pronunciation of 'capillaries' is the British pronunciation. We stress the second syllable rather than the first

every single man I have seen react to this song completely glosses over the " Your false incompetence its dominance in disguise" line.

Unfortunately this isn't a song about one bad marriage and one man. It's about all women.

I have yet to see a male reactor truly "get" this song. It just shows how specific to women's experience of the world it really is.

The doubling of "lifts a finger" I think highlights the double meaning:

It's not about a man, it's about men. There is a difference. There also is a cacophony now.
