CCC Productions Conference Championship prediction time New England Patriots at Denver Broncos I will admit to having shortchanged the Patriots this season. While it is indisputable fact that they faced an incredibly easy schedule, other such teams have done the same and won the Super Bowl, such as the 72 Dolphins and the 99 Rams. The Patriots do not belong in this company of course, but maybe they belong with 1970 Colts? They too won the Super Bowl. Despite the narrative and the impending MVP results, I do not see this team as having one major standout. They are truly back to the Patriot Way with a true Patriot of that era in charge. Like the 01 team (another who won the Super Bowl on the back of an incredibly easy schedule) they turned over the roster and have taken an all-hands on deck approach. It was easy to admire then, and it's easy to admire now. I feel safe in saying that, all things considered, they have earned their place in this game. Everyone else is talking about one thing regarding the Broncos here, so I guess I will too. Bo Nix is a functionary of the Sean Payton offense (or for those in the know, a petty functionary with a clipboard... bitch). There is nothing he can do that Jarrett Stidham cannot. They've both been in the offense for the same amount of time. It's Nix's draft pedigree that gets him the nod. Two things could be in play: 1) Stidham hasn't played this season, potentially affecting the offense's flow, particularly in the early game, and 2) He might not have the same kind of ability with his legs that Nix does. Three things that are not changing: 1) Denver has an excellent O-line with two first team All-Pros, 2) Denver has an excellent defense, their performance last week not fully withstanding, and 3) Denver has the most unique and perhaps the best homefield advantage in the NFL. They're the underdogs, but I'm sticking with them as my preseason AFC Champions prediction Patriots 16, Broncos 20 Los Angeles Rams at Seattle Seahawks In my Rams/Bears prediction, I stated that the Rams may have a great C-Score, but something about the way they are playing doesn't reflect that. Yes, they have made it to this game by winning two straight playoff games on the road. On the surface, that's a great accomplishment. Then consider they won those games by the skins of their teeth, one in overtime, against two teams whose combined C-Score is in the negatives. If C-Score isn't your cup of tea, then consider their combined regular season records of 19-15 and their combined point differential of -43, and recall the myriad ways the Bears won games that would have made the 2024 Chiefs proud. The talent exists on this L.A. roster, and they are capable of playing like the best team in the league, something they have shown this season. They are fully capable of winning this game and the next one. Is it in them anymore though? The Seahawks on the other hand are the proper unit of these playoffs so far, despite only having played one game. Scan their roster and kindly point out to me that glaring weakness, that Achilles heel that will ultimately cost them. Cause I don't see it. I won't pretend everything they have is some robust strength either, but with this kind of solidity in this era of the NFL, and in particular this season, that isn't necessary. They are the closest thing we have to a juggernaut in 2025, no matter how far away that description appears at the moment. Throw in their unique homefield advantage, and this is a team that, if they execute, will not lose tomorrow. These two teams have played two very close games. This one... I'm not seeing it. Rams 19, Seahawks 38 (3 months ago)

Would love the opposite of this: The Biggest SURPRISES NFL History.

I was a huge Steve Young fan and I was crushed when he got hurt and the team imploded. The only bright spot was watching another left handed QB wearing number 8 in Jacksonville tear it up. Mark Brunell in his peak reminded me alot of Steve Young

The loss of Steve Young completely ruined that team

I think the 49ers biggest karmic slap came in 2003 when they fired Steve Mariucci after going "only" 10-6 and "only" making the Divisional Round in 2002. It fully came to roost in 2005 when Mike Nolan and Scot McCloughan infamously came to an impasse with Aaron Rodgers's agent

That first game of the season against the jags, It was hard watching Young play because every time heโ€™d hit the ground, he was clutching his head and grimacing in fear of another injury/concussion

3:21 - Jerry Rice in 1997 is reminding me of Linsey Vonn in the 2026 Winter Olympics. He came back too soon and wasn't fully ready.

Like if your team never made the whole 32 team disappointment list โ€ was scared every week lol

Yes Steve Young injury definitely hurts the team in 1999

I don't know if it directly affected anyone among the players and coaches, but another bad piece of karma for the 1999 49ers was Eddie DeBartolo being suspended for the season for his association with corrupt politician Edwin Edwards and failure to report a felony. Upon his reinstatement, he surrendered control of the team to his sister and brother in-law. While probably not the sole reason for the 49ers failure to claim a sixth Lombardi Trophy, it may have added to the failed windows of opportunity by the bay. It certainly delayed DeBartolo reaching the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

For there to be such disappointment, that means expectations have to be high. We know why expectations always remain so high for us.
