The fact that Alex is so quick to murder the harmless stranger really shows how much he cares for Derrick, patiently choosing to put up with him when he is clearly capable of ending lives on a whim for much less; In fact, it's possible that the man appearing in Derrick's presence triggered Alex's paternal instincts, as he intruded on turf where Alex was compelled to act in protection of his kin.

Thomas is SO GOOD at portraying barely-contained violent rage. It's probably a good thing he didn't do it very often or he'd have died of a brain aneurysm.

The way he busts his ankle against that metal table still makes me cringe.
