City Planner Plays
Description
Ever wonder what an Urban Planner does for fun? Well, they play City Builders of course! I have loved City Builders since I was a kid and have been playing them for as long as I can remember. I started out with the original SimCity on the SNES, graduated to SimCity 2000 on the PC, and have played every City Builder I can since then.

So... you know my video yesterday was a prank, right?
Vote on a poll:
Nope! You got me! Yes, and I loved it! Yes... and use the map for the daily series! (coming soon!) I'm just here for the chaos!

Hello from Stockholm! Segunda Beach is getting posted in a moment, but I wanted to let you know know why I have thru movements on Walnut. Basically, in a lot of places off the US interstate there are thrus in case you accidentally exit. So it's a totally unnecessary movement in-game, but makes it feel much more realistic to me. Perhaps I need to rethinking that, though, to prioritize gameplay!

Hey everyone! Laucian Nailor made a great suggestion in the Community page that I clean up and simplify the Home tab. In the spirit of simplifaction, I also removed older playlists that were cluttering things up, including removing all live stream playlists.
What do you think of the changes?
Vote on a poll:
Love them all! Love the Home Changes, I miss the Playlists! Love the Playlist Changes, dislike the Home changes. Grumble.. grumble... I hate change.

I'm curious about your feelings about CS2's graphics post-update IceFlake update....
Vote on a poll:
Much better! Much worse! I'm unsure.

Placing the eldercare facility from across the cemetery to save on transportation costs is truly a city planner moment

The tone of your voice and the calm, slow cadence of your explanations makes me feel like I'm watching the Bob Ross of city planning. It's incredibly relaxing.

What really amazes me is your genuine care of the virtual citizens in the game. You said things like "kids will love it", "unfortunately the kids will have to walk across the street". I think it's this attitude that makes your gameplay looks so much more interesting and admirable. I've certainly learned this and next time I play the game I'll also think more about the kids and other "people" in the game.

This is easily the best, most relaxing "how to start a city" guide I've watched. And as someone with the inexplicable worry of, "what if my city's not immediately perfect!?", hearing that things don't have to be perfect is reassuring. Looking forward to putting what I'm gonna learn in this series into practice.

Went from bumbling through trying to build like 3 cities that all failed and now I've got a massive functional metropolitan city after these guides. It's so satisfying. Thanks so much!

So you’re telling me that when I start my city, I shouldn’t build a $40,000 double-decker roundabout interchange? Your rationality frightens and intrigues me.

As an architect, I really appreciate the way you layout the grid planning for this city and as well as consideration for the natural landscape of the area.

I'd love a version of this for European cities/cities that don't follow grids. When I first got into C:S I built using grids (despite being from Germany and a city that's "naturally" grown over centuries and is basically a lot of now interconnected villages). It was super easy, but also quickly took the enjoyment out of the game. I try to build more naturally feeling cities now, but it's always a very bumpy process. I know that is to be expected specifically because these cities aren't built with maximum efficiency in mind, but surely there's something I could do better. One of the things I struggled with was the vanilla street styles in C:S clearly being US-inspired, and one street type is limited to one speed limit etc.
